Overview

Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2012 with an intake of 60.The Department is headed by Dr. Lakshminarasimhaiah N and supported by Associate Professor, Assistant Professors and non-teaching staff. Department has spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories.Department was started with the aim of disseminating knowledge and arranging a technical visit to construction sites, to bring out hidden talents in the students, to bring industry-institute interaction for the benefit of students and staff. The Department also has a Research Center recognized by VTU

Why Civil Engineering in APSCE

Answer. Civil Engineers have always faced the challenges of the future – advancing civilization and improving the quality of life. The technological revolution and infrastructural development in and around Bangalore are demanding also, is a rewarding time for civil engineers….!!!!!

How old is Civil Engineering in APSCE

Answer. Civil Engineering branch started in the year 2012 with an intake of 60 students.

Is Department recognized as Research Center

Answer. Being the youngest of all branches in APSCE, Department of Civil Engineering is a recognized research centre under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. About 5 research Scholars have registered for PhD in the department under VTU, who are utilizing the state of the art laboratories for the successful completion of their experimental study.

How About coaching of Civil Engineering in APSCE?

Answer. Students are provided with course materials after it is reviewed by the senior faculty members, Head of Department and Principal for all the subjects studied by the student in that particular semester. Feedbacks are taken TWICE in a semester by the College committee.

Information About the staff of Civil Engineering in APSCE

Answer. We have the best teaching staffs holding/ pursuing Doctoral Degrees with a huge list of publications in various UGC recognized journals by each staff members. Our staffs have attended various National and International Conferences/ Symposiums/ Workshops/ Faculty Development Program at frequent intervals so that they are well trained and equipped to teach the current developments in their respective specializations.

Does student need any additional coaching?

Answer. Absolutely NO!!!! A tutorial and remedial classes are taken for difficult subjects along with regular classes, there is no need for the candidate to breed on any coaching classes.

In case if student needs any additional counciling or mentoring, any provision for the same?

Answer. Each student will have a Mentor to discuss any academic problems. Minor problems will be solved by the mentor. In case any major issue to the candidate then the problem will be solved through a proper channel which includes Head of the Department and the Vice Principal, Department of Civil Engineering, APSCE.

How About the Library Facilities in the Campus?

Answer. Civil Engineering Department Library has an innumerous number of books of all the subjects including professional electives and open electives. Books will be issued to all students from our department Library. A reading room is available in the department for students to refer the reference books throughout the day.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

After successful completion of B.E. degree in Civil Engineering, the graduate will be able to

PSO 1: Analyze and design civil engineering structures, as per the guidelines in Indian standards and otherrelevant codes, like buildings, bridges, tunnels, railways, airports, water and sewage treatment plants etc.,

PSO 2: Manage large infrastructural projects by making use of latest techniques of Project Management for optimum utilization of resources viz. men, materials and money.

PSO 3: Acquire modern scientific knowledge by pursuing higher studies which will lead them to identify problems in the civil engineering domains and thereby become entrepreneur and to propose solutions.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) specialized in Civil Engineering is designed to achieve the following objectives after four to five years of graduation. They will be able to:

PEO 1: Plan and develop prosperous career in the modern multidisciplinary sectors of the engineering and/or higher studies by gaining knowledge in basic sciences and engineering.

PEO 2: Analyze and design civil engineering structures and processes keeping in view societal needs and responsibility towards sustainable development.

PEO 3: Demonstrate professionalism, team work and interpersonal skills and adhere to modern scientific advancement in the field of civil engineering by continuous learning.

Results & Achievements

Vision Group on Science & Technology (VGST) Govt. of Karnataka has sanctioned a grant of Rs.20 lakhs to Dr. Anirban Basu, CSE Dept. under the K-FIST(Level 1) scheme. Most of our faculties have presented papers at National and International conferences/journals. Ms. Ashwini P B(1AP14CS011) secured 11th Rank in 2nd Semester VTU B.E Examination June/July-2015 and scored 100 out 100 in Engineering Mathematics-II
