ABOUT DEPARTMENT

Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2012 with an intake of 60. Department has well-qualified teaching staff under the leadership of Prof. Lakshminarasimiah N. Department has spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories. Department is spread over 1200sqm. Department was started with the aim of disseminating knowledge and arranging a technical visit to construction sites, to bring out hidden talents in the students, to bring industry-institute interaction for the benefit of students and staff. Department has organized few guest lectures and technical talk related to the field of curriculum.

RESULT ANALYSIS

  • The students’ performances are growing consistently with every consecutive year.
  • 6 faculties have given 100% results in their respective domains.

ACHIEVEMENTS

    • Prashanth D L1. Participated in national level R.G.K.A athletic competition in Gandhinagar.
      2. Won gold in state-level discus throw event in R.G.K.A competition.
      3. VTU kabbadi inter-zone competition – runner’s up
      Dheeraj1. CATC camp – best fire award – a gold medal.
      2. Mavlankar firing camp – Zonal 1 – best firing award (grouping 1.5cm)

RESEARCH

  • Two faculties are in the last stage of receiving their Doctoral degrees and one has registered for the Doctoral course.
  • Many papers submitted by the faculty have been applauded in various national/ International conferences.
  • Department has organized One Day National Conference on “Recent Advances in Materials” (NCRAM-2017) on 30th August 2017. Chief Guest – Sri. Thatagathroy, Hon. Governor, State of Tripura.
  • Department has organized one day International Conference on “Recent Trends in Environmental Science & Engineering (RTESE’17)” on 16th December 2017.

Why Civil Engineering in APSCE?

Civil Engineers have always faced the challenges of the future – advancing civilization and improving the quality of life. The technological revolution and infrastructural development in and around Bangalore are demanding also, is a rewarding time for civil engineers….!!!!!

How old is the Civil Engineering branch in APSCE?

Civil Engineering branch started in the year 2012 with an intake of 60 students.

Is the department recognized as Research Center?

Being the youngest of all branches in APSCE, Department of Civil Engineering is a recognized research centre under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. About 5 research Scholars have registered for PhD in the department under VTU, who are utilizing the state of the art laboratories for the successful completion of their experimental study.

How about coaching in Civil Engineering in APSCE?

Students are provided with course materials after it is reviewed by the senior faculty members, Head of Department and Principal for all the subjects studied by the student in that particular semester. Feedbacks are taken TWICE in a semester by the College committee.

Information about the teaching staff....

We have the best teaching staffs holding/ pursuing Doctoral Degrees with a huge list of publications in various UGC recognized journals by each staff members. Our staffs have attended various National and International Conferences/ Symposiums/ Workshops/ Faculty Development Program at frequent intervals so that they are well trained and equipped to teach the current developments in their respective specializations.

Does a candidate need additional coaching?

Absolutely NO!!!! A tutorial and remedial classes are taken for difficult subjects along with regular classes, there is no need for the candidate to breed on any coaching classes.

In case the candidate need counseling or mentoring, any provision for the same?

Each student will have a Mentor to discuss any academic problems. Minor problems will be solved by the mentor. In case any major issue to the candidate then the problem will be solved through a proper channel which includes Head of the Department and the Vice Principal, Department of Civil Engineering, APSCE.

How about library facility in the department?

Civil Engineering Department Library has an innumerous number of books of all the subjects including professional electives and open electives. Books will be issued to all students from our department Library. A reading room is available in the department for students to refer the reference books throughout the day.

How about Lab facility in the department?

All laboratories are in the state of the art for carrying out research works in the various fields of Civil Engineering such as Concrete Technology, Highway Engineering, Alternative Building Materials, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, etc.

How do you promote or improve student's both formal and informal skills?

  • Students are guided and encouraged to join NCC through the Physical Education Department.
  • A Civil Engineering student was awarded a Gold Medal for best firing at CATC Camp and best firing award for Zonal 1, Mavlankar firing camp (grouping 1.5cm).
  • Kabaddi Team of Civil Engineering Department has won the prize for Two consistent years 2016 & 2017 at the College level Kabaddi Matches.
  • Few students along with staff members attended one day National Level Workshop on “Repair and Rehabilitation of structures”, at Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science, Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Students along with staff members attended an International Conference on “Repair and Rehabilitation of structures”, at Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science, Madanapalle, Andra Pradesh.
  • Students along with staff members attended an International Conference on “Repair and Rehabilitation of structures”, at JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, 2018.
  • Pre-final year students participated in various cultural events and won prizes and Overall Championship Trophy in ESPERANZA 2K18 held at Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management, 2018.

Students are guided by the eminent teaching staffs of the department through their contacts to take up internship programs in both Government and Non-Government Sectors in order to expose students to the practical application of the knowledge acquired at the college and bridge the gap between academics and practicality.

What are the job prospects and pay for Civil Engineers?

The time couldn’t be better!!!!! Job opportunities are very good. 90% placement is achieved every year and the 10% have their start-ups.

Are Civil Engineering students of APSCE study abroad?

Yes!!!!! Few of our students are studying in recognized universities abroad followed by placements at their abode place of study.
